Terms of Service
Last updated: 2 August 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using the JourneyComposer website or native app, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Your account
You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age at which you can consent to data processing in your own country if that age is higher, to create an account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away at support@journeycomposer.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for anything illegal, or to store or share content you don’t have the right to share.
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, storage quotas, or other technical protections.
- Access another user’s account or data without authorization.
- Interfere with the service’s operation or attempt to extract data at scale (scraping, automated bulk access).
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
What the file storage is for
Photo and document storage is provided so you can keep the files that belong to a trip: tickets, bookings, reservations, insurance papers, permits, passport and visa scans, maps, guides, and the photographs you took while travelling. Storage is not a general backup, file-sharing, or media-hosting service, and it is not somewhere to keep material unrelated to travel.
Photographs of the trip itself belong in a trip’s photos, not in its documents. The two are separate on purpose: photos are organised by day, resized for printing and counted against your photo allowance, and documents are not. Pictures of paperwork are documents and are exactly what the document storage is for, so a screenshot of a booking confirmation, a photographed parking sign, a scanned passport page or a snapshot of a timetable all belong there. The distinction is what the image is of, not what format it is in.
Specifically, and whichever plan you are on, please do not:
- Use the account primarily as bulk file storage rather than to plan or record trips.
- Upload your camera roll or holiday photographs as documents to avoid the photo limit.
- Upload material that is not connected to a trip, or that belongs to someone else without their permission.
- Create additional accounts, or use another person’s account, to get around a limit.
- Automate uploads, or otherwise add files at a rate or volume no traveller realistically would.
“Unlimited” on a paid plan means we do not put a number on ordinary use. It does not mean uncapped: only the file types we support can be uploaded, and there is a size limit on any single file, which is set well above what a real travel document needs.
If an account is clearly outside this, we will normally contact you first and give you a reasonable chance to put it right. Where that is not appropriate, or the issue continues, we may cap the account’s storage, refuse further uploads, or suspend or terminate the account. We will not delete your files without telling you, except where the law requires us to act immediately. If we end a paid plan for this reason, we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the trips, places, routes, documents, photos, and other content you create or upload (“your content”). By using the service, you grant us the limited right to store, process, and display your content back to you and to anyone you explicitly invite as a collaborator or share via a share link, solely to provide the service. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload, and for what you choose to share with collaborators or through a public share link. Anyone with a share link can view that trip.
5. Collaboration and sharing
Trip owners may invite collaborators by email and generate anonymous, view-only share links. Owners are responsible for who they invite and for revoking access or disabling a share link when it’s no longer wanted. We are not responsible for what a collaborator or share-link recipient does with content they were given access to.
6. Mapping and routing data
Addresses, geocoding, driving directions, and map data in the website and native app are supplied by third-party providers (see our Privacy Policy) and by community map data. This data can be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. JourneyComposer is a planning tool, not a substitute for official navigation, road-condition, or safety information. Always verify routes and conditions before you travel.
7. Affiliate links and widgets
The optional eSIM panel, flight-search, and Omio transport-ticket features contain affiliate links and, on the web, the flight-search feature uses an embedded third-party widget from our affiliate partners. The native app opens external provider pages instead of an embedded widget and uses generic affiliate attribution. Omio ticket prices shown on legs are indicative “from” prices, not live quotes or a booking made with us. We may earn a commission if you buy an eSIM plan, book a flight, or book a train, bus or ferry ticket through these features, at no extra cost to you. These features are clearly labelled and are never required to plan or view a trip. See our Privacy Policy for what data these providers receive.
8. Plans and payment
JourneyComposer has a free tier that includes generating and planning an unlimited number of trips. Paid “Plus” plans are offered on a subscription basis, monthly or yearly, and raise the storage allowances and unlock additional features. The plans, their current prices, and exactly what each one includes are shown before you pay.
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for the sale. That means Lemon Squeezy is the seller for the transaction, issues your invoice, and collects and remits any applicable VAT or sales tax. Their terms apply to the payment itself, while these terms continue to govern your use of the service. We never see or store your full card details.
Prices are shown inclusive or exclusive of tax as indicated at checkout, and the total you will be charged is always displayed before you confirm. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price in force when you subscribed, until you cancel. If we change the price of a plan you already hold, we will tell you before the change takes effect and you may cancel instead of accepting it.
9. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a subscription at any time, in two clicks, from Plan and billing in your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your paid features stay available until the end of the period you have already paid for, and we do not refund the remainder of a period part-way through. If you change your mind before that date, you can undo the cancellation from the same page.
Fourteen-day refund on a first subscription. If you are unhappy with your first Plus subscription for any reason, contact us within 14 days of that first payment and we will refund it in full. This sits alongside, and does not reduce, the statutory right of withdrawal that consumers in the EU, the EEA, and the UK have for distance contracts.
Downgrading never deletes your content. If a subscription ends while you are storing more than the free tier allows, everything you have already uploaded stays visible and downloadable. We simply stop accepting new uploads until you are back under the free allowance or subscribe again. We will not delete your photographs or documents because a plan changed.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Account settings, which permanently removes nearly all of your owned data. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, with notice where practical.
11. Availability, disclaimers, and limitation of liability
We don’t guarantee uninterrupted availability and may change, suspend, or discontinue features.
The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including reliance on mapping or routing data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the EU/EEA jurisdiction in which JourneyComposer operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of your own country of residence.
13. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change to these terms, we will update this page and change the “last updated” date above. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
