The list that survives the trip
Packing lists are the most repeated and least interesting part of travel. The same twenty things, every time, retyped into a fresh note because last trip's list is somewhere in a chat thread.
So you never start from nothing. Eleven preset lists come with the app, covering the cases most trips fall into: essentials and documents, electronics, toiletries, first aid, beach, winter and ski, hiking, business travel, backpacking, baby and toddler, and pet travel. Pick the ones that apply and they become your list, which you then edit freely.
Anything you build is worth keeping. Save a list as a template and it is there for the next trip, and you can apply more than one when a trip is more than one kind of trip: the hand-luggage list plus the hiking list, merged into the one you will actually pack from.
Group items and personal items are different things
Some things need to exist exactly once across the whole group: the tent, the first aid kit, the adapter that fits the car. Those belong on a shared list, where everyone can see them and one person can claim them.
Everything else is yours, and nobody else needs it in their view. Personal lists stay personal on a trip other people can see, and items carry quantities for the cases where two is the right number.
Questions
Can other people on the trip see my list?
Only the shared lists. A personal list on a shared trip is visible to you alone, so you can keep the group's gear and your own things in the same place without publishing the second one.
Can I reuse a list from a past trip?
Yes, that is what templates are for. Save any list as a template, then start the next trip's list from it and adjust.
Does it work offline?
The website needs a connection. The native app, which is still in development, keeps a trip you have already opened readable offline.
